Meet Your Candidates : Sejh
SRC 23- International Student Representative

My name is Sejh (he/him) and I am currently a student at Cape Breton University, Sydney, Nova Scotia pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management. Belonging to a family of India’s Youth Political Leader, I have been surrounded by the force to serve and work for social causes since childhood. I believe it helps me stick to my roots and feed my passion for positive change.
As a vocal member of the 2SLGBTQIA++ looking in at the growth and change over the last several months I continuously feel motivated to pursue youth advocacy. My intent for change and fulfilling opportunity to work as a BIPOC Queer Outreach Staff with Youth Project, Sydney,
Nova Scotia has played an essential role in nurturing my professional and ethical skills as an activist. Being an international student from India, I am aware of the anxieties that an immigrant might have when they are attempting to find a safe place in a foreign country. Cape Breton is a close community of several welcoming individuals. It has been a long fight for us to create a safe space and awareness for all ethnicities, however, I believe it’s still a long way to go for things to normalize in general which brings me to disclose that it’s distressing for Indians and other People of Color to find acceptance. Therefore, it becomes very important to find similar representative with whom they can build relationship of trust and comfort.
Nova Scotia is one thriving province with a significant influx of immigrants from around the world finding their ways through Canadian culture.
To opine, being a BIPOC student situated in this beautiful island of opportunity and growth with valuable experience in several non-profit organizations in India and Canada equips me to resolve challenges faced by individuals and connect with community to spread awareness and create a friendly environment for personal and professional growth.
Together We can bring the change!
