Meet Peter Oyedijo and MD Mahmudul Hassan – Candidates for CBUSU General Elections, 2022-23

Peter Oyedijo and MD Mahmudul Hassan is one of the slates running for the posts of President and Executive Vice President (respectively) in the Cape Breton University (CBU) Students’ Union general elections 2022-23.


Here are some words from the candidates themselves.

Peter Oyedijo


"Hello everyone, My name is Peter Oyedijo, standing for the position of President of the Cape Breton University’s Students’ Union. I was born and brought-up in the southwestern part of Nigeria. After the successful completion of my high school diploma in Nigeria, fast forward to fall 2019, I found myself in the residence of Cape Breton University. I am currently a third-year student in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Supply Chain Management) Program.


"As the current student representative for the Shannon School of Business in the student’s union and the Deputy Chair of the student’s council, I have had the chance to debate on students matters, I have also had the opportunity to work closely with the present Executive team and throughout my time, I have seen a lot of positive changes and will ensure to develop on these and further provide a great student experience for all.


"As an individual who is passionate about being a voice and an advocate for students, some of the issues faced by fellow students on campus, informed my action to run for President of the Students’ Union."

MD Mahmudul Hassan

"My name is Hassan, I was born and brought up in a friendly suburban neighborhood of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. After graduating in Business Administration from a private business school in early 2019, I joined a chemical manufacturing firm as a management trainee and promoted to government contract specialist, fast forward to February 2021, I found myself dining in Harriss Hall diner, CBU Residence!


"During my time at the CBU residence, I took frequent guidance and support from the downtown office of the CBU Students' Union and was humbled and enthralled by the CBUSU’s range of support and assistance they provided.


"As a post-graduate international student, and being a part-time employee at a retail store, I came across several issues faced by the students. For example – excessive cost of mandatory textbooks, lack of information regarding the driving license and the prolonged process to acquire one, access to affordable driving lessons, off-campus housings etc."

"We strongly believe that if our slate (Peter and Hassan) is elected, ideas and innovations that will ensure solutions are brought to the table. We will ensure that students concern are heard, ensure that the students union is safe, sustainable, and welcoming to all."
