Meet Courtney DeGiobbi and Rahul Luthra – Candidates for CBUSU General Elections, 2022-23
Courtney DeGiobbi and Rahul Luthra is one of the slates running for the posts of President and Executive Vice President (respectively) in the Cape Breton University (CBU) Students’ Union general elections 2022-23.
Here are some words from the candidates themselves.

Courtney DeGiobbi
"My name is Courtney DeGiobbi, standing for the post of President of CBU Students Union, I am very passionate about academics (currently working for CBU’s Math & Science Centre), Women in Business advocacy, and above all else, my dog Louie. I grew up in New Waterford - and started at CBU in 2018. Since then, I’ve served as an executive at the CBUSU twice - in two different Vice President positions. I always had a passion for academics and student life – combined with the experience I had already been working with the SU. I feel prepared to represent the student body and continue to fight for the things that matter to them."

Rahul Luthra
"My name is Rahul Luthra, I am a 3rd year BACS/BBA student. I belong to India, I started at CBU in May 2019 and I’ve worked as the Student Program Coordinator of the Community Engagement Program. I have been here for three years. As an international student, I’ve learnt a lot about the hardships faced by the international students. I feel that not much has changed since my arrival and now, and the problems I faced then, are still problems today. If appointed as an Executive Vice President, I would like to change things for the better."
The Team's Vision
"One of the major things that we would like to implement at the CBUSU, is an entirely new service to help students find part-time employment while studying. Our vision for the SU, is to act as the third party - connecting with employers in the CBRM, distributing resumes on behalf of students and seeking employment opportunities.
"Additionally, we want to advocate for more food resources at CBU – pushing for accessibility, affordability, and a wider array of options – lowering the prices at Caper Convenience – and extending the CBUSU Food Bank so that it is open 12-months a year.
